5. May 2004 ~ km | Front speakers

The original speakers didn't sound too good anymore (I don't know if they ever sounded good.... it does say Alfa Romeo on them, but I have a feeling they're better at makeing nice engine sounds than speakers... anyway...). The front speakers are mounted under the dashboard and they are just slottet into the plastic. Instead of making some mounting brackets I desided to try to find something that fit the original dashboard. After some visits to a couple of shops I ended at Dansk Auto HiFi in Køge. I brought the lower part of the dashboard from the passenger side with me, and after some considerration the guy in the shop found something that looked like it'd fit. I bought the Audiobahn AS64PQ set, and after I removed the plastic bracket they actually did fit! I placed the tweeters on top of the dashboard, and it seams to work well.

7. March 2004 ~ km | Rear breakes

For some time there has been a problem with the parking break getting stuck, so when it was released the rear breaks was still stuck. It hasn't been that much of a problem 'cos I almost never use the parking break (and that's probably why the problem started anyway), but I have to get it though the danish version of the MOT (bilsyn.dk) soon so I thought it would be wise to fix it now (at last) :o)

After taking the wheel and drum off it turned out to be the parking break leaver (or whatever it's called, it's marked on the second picture :) that was jammed but rust and dust. So after a bit of cleaning, copper grease, and a lot of 'pulling the parking break, releasing it, pressing the leaver back manualy -> repeat' it got loose. So now I'm looking forward to a slightly faster Alfa and a better fuel economy :o)

12. September 2003 ~ km | Break light switch

The rear break lights only worked with a light presure on the break pedal, so that had to be fixed (or else I'd have had a very short Alfa...). I didn't want to take any chances so I bought an original switch (163,50dkk.... I guess the little printed Alfa logo is quite expensive :). At leased it was pretty easy to change the part.

11. September 2003 ~ km | Front breakes

Changed the front break pads to some Mintex (MDB1511) from Østergaard Dansk Auto Materiel (~500dkk with discount from www.alfaklub.dk, a nice guy at the local Alfa shop pointed me in that direction :o). This is the first time I've done this job, so I used the Haynes workshop manual for a Fiat Tipo [ISBN 1 85010 625 8]. I know the Alfa 33 and the Fiat Tipo doesn't use the same breakes, but the systems look alike and I used the Tipo manual without any problems (well, it worked for the break pads, I don't know if it's as usefull for the rest of the system). The problem is that the series 3 33s use a diffirent caliper to the first 33s, so the workshop manual that's around on the net doesn't work with this job.

27. July 2003 ~ 264'000km | Service

Oile and oile filter changed (to Shell W15-60). The dust guard next to the break disc came loose on the drivers side (and made a lot of unpleasent noise), so that was removed.

May 2003, ~ 262'000km | Exhaust

Alfa 33 1.7 ie - Broken exhaust The middle part of the exhaust broke in the joint where it connects to the manifold. It's welded back together now (it's the part with the catalytic converter, so I didn't really feel like buying a new one :o)), but it made quite a lot of noise. [815kb wav file] recorded with a laptop place on the passenger seat, while driving up a ramp.

November 2002 | Headunit

Pulled out the old radio (probably older than the car), and put in a used Sony MD radio. I mounted the joystick on the door pointing towards the steeringwheel. In lack of rear speakers (and passengers in the rear seats) I placed some speakers from a Sanzui stereo system in the boot and put the rear seat down. Sounds quite good considering that the only amplifier is the one in the radio (except when the rear seat is up..).

Arived in my hands around the 1. september 2002, having done 251'847km.
